Lounge Review – Priority Pass Terminal 1 Munich Airport –

We paid a short visit to the Airport Lounge Europe on our recent visit to Munich. Our MUC-AMS flight on KLM left out of Gate D15 in Terminal 1 which was very close to this lounge. It is located next to the KLM Air France Lounge above Gate D14. You should be able to get to this lounge from the C gates but it would be a long way from others. There is another Priority Pass Lounge in Terminal 2. They are inside security. Overall this is a nice little Priority Pass Lounge.

This was in the morning so basic breakfast was on offer. The lounge was also very slow as it was during a Sunday morning. Overall we enjoyed this lounge.

Seating was comfortable with tons of power outlets.

Big fans of Maho Beach (Airport Beach in St. Maarten) are going to be disappointed that KLM is splitting the service to St. Maarten and Curacao and more shocking (but not surprising) is that they are replacing the 747-400 with an A330-200.  This is still a large jet but not as special as the 747 in my opinion.

Euro =1 / USD =.85 time to head to Europe

My wife and I have a trip planned to France in February. We’ve had it booked since last Spring so that we can take advantage of some good Winter US Airways Dividend miles reward rates. Since I booked it I’ve watched as the Euro has weakened against the dollar now down to about 1=.85 which is really going to help on shopping and eating I hope. We already have our hotels booked on mostly points but I hope this will really help. It actually may encourage us to shop more than usual and help the Euro. We’ll see.

Anyway this is a good time to go. KLM and several other airlines are running some really good deals on travel right now. It also seems that Delta and United have been doing a little price battle as well. I can’t say now will be the cheapest but it ain’t bad. Much better than a couple years ago.
